Environment is great and food is amazing. This is me and my moms favorite place to go eat at when she's visiting. Also, every time I introduce Guatemalan food to my friends I bring them here. Portions are big and worth the price.

This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in town. I love everything about it -- from the way it looks (which is how I ended up going here for the first time to begin with), to the color and decor on the inside (the Guatemalan textile art), to the service, and then of course..... the food. it's not just the comfort of home style cooking, but it's EXTREMELY GOOD comforting home style food. it's the details: the chips and bean appetizer with a side of pickled veggies, the freshness of the agua fresca with chunks of pineapple that you can tell was freshly chopped, perfectly seasoned and fluffed rice. it's just SO GOOD. and of course, you MUST order garnachas when you come. I've gotten it without meat once and it's still perfect. the curtido is the simplest, most perfect, tart and refreshing curtido ever. cabbage, lime, cilantro perfection. Casa Chapina is extremely consistent -- I've never had anything less than excellent there. Also today we ordered sopa de res and they realized after the fact that it had been missing a piece of corn cob and they ran out and brought it to the table!!! Like I mentioned, they have great service.

I can't believe I'm just now discovering this place after living in the area for 8 years. Do not sleep on this incredible Latin American/Guatemalan food. I'm Panamanian American and loved everything my husband and I had on a random little neighborhood date we had here recently. I'm writing this now right as I sit here for the second time because I was craving their awesome chicken soup BUT I saw their gate was almost closed and the sign saying CERRADO was up, but the young man kindly let me in and after talking to his mom/chef they are generously making me soup to go. What?! It's like being in Latin America at someone's home and it's real incredible home cooking. BIEN AGRADECIDO!!! Buen provecho a todos. omg and my favorite song just came onnnn by Vicente Fernandez ok I'm in heaven adios

Very delicious! Being Guatemalan and not having many restaurants available that represent my culture, finding this restaurant in LA was very awesome. The restaurant itself is very beautiful, bringing a bit of the home country to the states. The food is just finger licking, just like my parents make it. A bite from any cuisine just takes you back home. Definitely a must visit while in LA.

Saturday 11AM 2/26/22 I think I'm the lucky guy here, our breakfast was great, can't complaint of the service or food. Clean place . Two minor things, for me the coffee needs to be a bit more stronger, hot sauce more spicy. Would I recommend it, I sure will.

Casa Chapina I don't know if my words will be strong enough to describe just how truly amazing our experience was tonight. Our server Jesse was busy and didn't get to us right away. For that she was very apologetic. Her service was friendly and attentive, very welcoming. Something I have learned in my many years working in restaurants, a great server is an amazing asset. Jesse brought us our drinks, chips with puréed black beans and pickled jalapeño with carrots. To drink I had Jamaica, it wasn't overly sweet it was just right. As far as the food goes. I went overboard and ordered chicharrón with yucca, Plátanos with black beans and crema, as well as an order of Tacos Dorados. My wife ordered a pupusa revuelta with an order of plátanos with black beans and crema. My mother in law ordered a trio of tostadas (1 with puréed black beans, 1 with salsa & 1 with guacamole) for all of us to share. Everything was perfect!!! My chicharrón and yuca fried to absolute perfection. The sweet plantains with the crema and savory black beans was absolutely perfect. My tacos dorados as well as the salsa tostada flavors were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Don't come here if you're someone who doesn't understand that great food takes time to be made.
